Penny Akwei joined Gracenote in late 2014 and served as the local HR leader for the LA office, later joining the Nielsen Corporate Compensation team where she worked with associates across the Nielsen organization. She was a gifted college athlete and coach who shared her passion for coaching at-risk youth in track and field. Penny was also passionate about her role as an HR leader and continuously strove to make the Gracenote LA office an outstanding place to work. 

Remembered for her deadpan humor and calming presence, Penny never showed an ounce of favoritism, but always made sure you knew that she cared about you as an individual. While she took her job seriously, she was always up for a good time, frequently surprising the staff with raffle giveaways, baked goods from Portos, or the occasional nacho bar in the break room. But above all, Penny cared about people, which is why a donation to this worthy organization seems so appropriate.  

The Gracenote/Nielsen company has generously agreed to match individual donations, up to a total match amount of $5,000.
